OUR STUDIO
NATZ Sewing Studio believes that every stitch has a story. Ours began with a closet full of fabric, a grandmother who believed I could sew and a mother who gave me the freedom to create. One small sewing lesson turned into a lifelong love of creating, learning, and sharing that joy with others.
WHERE OURS BEGAN
When I was seven, I begged my grandma to make clothes for my dolls. Instead, she opened her big closet overflowing with fabric and taught me to sew a pair of pajamas for myself.
Standing there choosing fabric felt exciting and a little scary. She helped me pin and cut the pieces and when I finally sat down at her sewing machine I was buzzing with excitement.
That moment, being trusted to create something real, lit a spark in me that never went out.
"We are all born creative. Some people just have someone who encourages them"
- Ken Robinson

This was how I remember my grandma, hair curlers and all, welcoming me into her favorite space, her sewing room.
THE FREEDOM TO CREATE
While my grandma sparked my love for sewing, my mom nurtured it.
Not once did she tell me to stop using her beautiful sewing machine. She let me create whenever I wanted, took me to fabric stores , and supported my curiosity as I learned.
Because of that encouragement, I grew confident enough to design my own patterns-making bible cases, purses, countless pieces of clothing and even my own graduation dress.
Everyone's fascination with sewing starts somewhere and this is where mine started, by playing with my toy chain stitch sewing machine. I am not to sure how old I was when I received it, but I do remember playing with it in my room using scraps of material to make clothing for my dolls. Little did I know that playing around on a machine would continue with my grandmother and mothers sewing machine and eventually my own given to me as a graduation gift.
How are you going to start? Need someone to give you or your children a place to start?
